Hmmm this is an odd one for sure !

It depends on your beliefs if you believe in the creation theory then no,if you believe in the theory of evolution then not not directly to lungfish but to a close relative of them-Anne

nope not really you in theory evolve to adapt to changes around you climate, food, etc etc.if the conditions no longer change then the need to evolve is no more-Anne

evolution is a theory and every fossil found contributes to the theory
but believing that or believing that god sent two extremely horny people down here is for you to decide :D

Well he thinks we went from lungfish-ape/monkey-humans. If we evolved from these wouldnt there be mutations and stuff wouldnt they still be evolving?

Cammo X

It's a lot more complex than that! it goes something like: lungfish - weird amphibian thingy with big mouth - reptiles - partial mammals - weird 4 legged mammals - bipedal mammals - humanoids

It's way more complex than that, I simplified it a lot.

Ok my mate tells me we evolved from lungfish way back, i think he is nuts ! whats your opinion?

Cammo X

No, modern lungfish are not in our direct line of ancestry but lobe finned fishes with similar lungs were indeed in our direct line of decent. It's possible lung fish evolved from them or that they share a common ancestor some where in there.

Personally I agree with XR. I would love to have a conversation with your friend. I won't get too detailed now, because that would take a long time, but I know for a fact that we never evolved from ANYTHING. There are too many complications and mutations that would have had to take place. Bascially even if we had evolved, we would have killed ourselves in the process. If you really want to know how I can explain but it would take too long right now. But seriously, if you want to prove him wrong, just send me a message.

Ya think so? Go to Hypography.com and make those claims my friend. Since this is not the forum for discussing these views I won't waste this forums time and space but you don't have a leg to stand on. Belief doesn't not equal fact!

if you follow the theory of evolution, then yes, humans are of the same line as sarcopterygians, which are the lobe-finned fishes. the present day lungfishes are not what humans evolved from, but both groups have a common ancestry with sarcopterygii. THAT is the connection according to evolutionary science--

Technically, we're related to everything if you go back far enough...
