Hmmm this is an odd one for sure !

“Nowhere was Darwin able to point to one bona fide case of natural selection having actually generated evolutionary change in nature….Ultimately, the Darwinian theory of evolution is no more nor less than the great cosmogenic myth of the twentieth century.” Michael Denton, Evolution: A Theory in Crises (Bethesda, Maryland: Adler & Adler, 1986) pp. 62, 358.

“I believe that one day the Darwinian myth will be ranked the greatest deceit in the history of science.” Søren Løvtrup, Darwinism: The Refutation of a Myth (New York: Croom Helm, 1987), p. 422.

If you look long enough and hard enough you can find someone to confirm almost any belief, but belief or lack there of has never changed reality. All the available evidence (not belief) points to evolution by natural selection, believe don't believe the truth is still the same.

I belive humans did not come from animals at all.

You are welcome to that belief, it's not particularly original nor is it backed up by any facts. Humans are animals, so where did you come from? A cabbage patch?

Actually, Darwin did...Galapagos finches ring a bell? While he himself did not physically witness the change in body form due to selective pressures, there's a well known study that does, and it wasn't so long ago. In fact, I believe you can get the documentary: Vampire Finches of the Galapagos.

It was hard for Darwin to declare his theory to be 'true science', because 'true science' involves controlled circumstances, and repeatable observations. Something you couldn't really witness in a human lifetime (during the industrial age) when it involves evolution. You certainly can now though. Golden staff bacteria in hospitals is a pretty good one...

Ah, and to add on to previous additions about evolution: Evolution and natural selection occur constantly. Monkeys/apes had common ancestors to humans, we did not derive from the current species at hand. Everything you see today is exactly as evolved as everything else. The physical shape may not have changed substantially, but physiology, behaviour etc. are always in the process of changing.

I won't try to convert those who do not believe into believing, as I know full well that it's impossible to reason with someone who's faith involves believing what they believe at the expense of other possibilities.

i beleive we are evolved from a lungfish's ancestors. i've also read up on evolution alot. creationism has no proof what-so-ever. at least the evidence is supporting evolution. look at what can easily be accomplished in our hobby using selective breeding. same things happen in nature when something divides a natural population, it will over generations become 2 different but similar species. it just takes longer in nature. i also beleive we are still evolving because if you take a look at human anatomy over the last few hundred years you will see our life span has become longer and we, as a species, have grown to be taller and not as stalky. but if you choose to beleive in creationism just because your religion tells you that is how it is, then you are entitled to do so.

There are a host of excellent books on this topic, but a good start would be "The Anscestor's Tale" by Richard Dawkins. It's not as hard slogging as a genuine evolutionary biology or anthropology text, and makes an interesting read. If you are new to the topic this is an excellent place to start.

Unfortunately every discussion like this seems to devolve into science versus religion. If it can be kept to an examination of actual evidence, it can be very productive.

O

the difference between creationsim and evolution theory seems to be to be just that those who believe in the theory of evolution try to prove their point by giving evidence to show why they are right but those that believe in creationism just give reasons why evolution is wrong.

If there was any evidence other than, 'magic man on a cloud dun it' i would consider it but there isnt so its not worth going on about...

well my dad is a lungfish.

its actually not as complicated as you all think. it makes his birthday and x-mas really easy all he really wants is food.
