i was wondering if i could turn a pegium 200 into a overflow box. i don't want a lot of flow i'm trying to make great for bio filtraion. what do you guys think.

i think it might work , i was thinking of doing something like this but i havent got around to doing it . so if you decide to do it keep us posted on your progress .

ok it won't be for a while though. this is somthing i will do no matter what because i ask alot of thing and they don't end up happing.

Ask away...That is what forums are for...We can always choose not to answer. I love questions. Make us a drawing of the hole setup so we can try to envision it with you ....:)

ok.

You planning on stripping it down to a bare box and getting the water to overflow into the box somehow? Or striping the bare box and makeing some sort of overflow tube to pull water into it?

I've wondered if there was a way to make a bare hob a overflow before but I never tried it..

ok well this is what i'm talking about. nothing is change the only differnce is i drill a hole in to the bottom of the HOB and it just acts as a HOB that drains into a sump/wedry.

Are you planning on leaving the pump in it to pull water into it? If so that's not going to work. You'll have to match flow rates. If you have 2 old HOBs I can think of a way, but not with a single one (unless you make a box to go in the tank, or a PVC "S" shaped tube.)

i have a pegium 200 and 150, and yes that was what i wanted to do :(

the problem with making it that way is that it's almost impossible to get the return pump to match the pump in the HOB. Your best bet is to figure out a way to use PVC to get water into the HOB with PVC or some other siphon.
