Maybe you should try reading for christ sake....

The ammonia would be produced from the waste accumulation. Then processed by areas that harbor beneficial bacteria well. If it doesn't make sense take it for what he meant instead of twisting words to try to laugh at people. Bio media is not the only place that colonizes BB :screwy:

How is that politics career coming along btw ?

Politics? Looks like your there. Five separate statements, yet not one of them answers any of the questions asked :duh:

Jeeeze:headbang2
Chill.......
The whole point was to get the OP (remember him) to get a filter on that HOB intake.
Otherwise, if neglected, it will have all the "benifits" of a clogged UGF.

MFK is as well known for good, solid info as it is for the "keyboard kombat" that erupts for unknown reasons.
This thread has both.

You were adressing kaisers statement. I was explaining the downside to the whole idea. That is all. Not tough to understand bro. Prefilter water before it hits bio media :grinno:

jeez Ladies. Lets keep it civil. OP-Your "HOB bio-filter" will need a sponge pre-filter to keep the gunk out & remain effective for more than a week or so. I use AC50 foam blocks for this task. They're the right size & its easy to cut a slit in one of the ends. Just slip it over the intake tube & done.

Thank you. I'll order the foam blocks from Kensfish.com. :)
