that is when i feel like this would stop being a hobby.
i get the opportunity cost but i am not trying to see what is the most beneficial way to spend my time or the best way to improve what i do and how i do it. (if i was a breeder then yeah i would deff. throw that into the equation) I do this for enjoyment nothing else. that would be like buy a ticket to a concert $40 then saying i was there 3 hrs so that was another $45 so to go to this concert it cost me $85.Brian_Indiana;5158966; said:Its called opportunity cost. If you want to establish the TRUE cost of the hobby you have to consider everything. The time you spend working on your tank is time you cannot spend doing something else. Free time is finite and therefore has a definite value.
Opportunity cost is the different between economic cost and accounting cost. To not include it seems naive and short-sighted. Of course, I am an Accountant with a background in Economics.

and i really doubt even u spend ur time looking for all the opportunity cost u built up on activities. it is impractical for most purposes out side of business plus then u have to add up the total amount of time u spent on adding up all those opportunity costs and so on an so froth
