Hole disease on Red?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
iam not convinced this is hith , saying that its impossable to say for sure , but there just seams to many holes on such a young channa to be hith , my guess would be some sort of bacterial infection , i think if he was mine i would treat with melafix as per instructions on bottle and see if there is any sign of imporvment

Only bacterial meds I have right now is Jungle (brand name) Fungus Eliminator. I remember that it heals the same things as Primafix(close to melafix maybe?). I just bought the Jungle brand cause that was what the lfs was using themselves.

I'll stop treating with the HILT meds then. Got him earlier to eat a dosage spinkled on krill as a precaution.

Oh okay that the difference.

NO ONE use Jungle Brand Fungus Eliminator on snakeheads... Just put in it last night & today my lil guy was hiding/laying near the bottom, & refused to eat! I just did a water change in hopes of perking him back up. My poor Puppy...

P.s. I did check the Ph too, but it didn't seem to change since I put the meds in.

So, my lil red is feeling all recoved form his med shock. Back to eating from hand etc. His head wounds seem less red & there haven't been any new ones.

Can anyone tell me if the wounds will totally heal over or if he'll have the scars as holes? Need to know when I can add him to the maintank?

I was wrong, he's got some new marks on his middle back, darn it. Here's some pics of him. Still quite active & eating well.

Someone on another thread mentioned Methylene Blue might help? Is that correct?

I have NO medications in the tank right now

p.s. my cory cats have randomly decided to breed in this tank as well *shakes head* just had to pick the worse enviroment for my 1st egg laying expirance.

personally mate ,and i hope i am wrong , i suspect this to be eus (Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome )and the reson why these fish are to be banned from import throughout the E.U. if iam right the fish is doomed there is no treatment that will cure this , i really hope iam wrong but with the new one turning up on its back it kind of confirms what i thought , i.e not hith , the problem if it is e.u.s is that what you see on the surface ie the spots is only half the problem , the real problem may lay in the internal organs and tissues of the fish , i would house him in a hospital tank by himself until you know for sure

Damn, I hope its wrong too. And he is in my hospital/introduction tank. The cories are just in there as the tank is usually empty & needed something in there prettiness and also bugs/algae would be everywhere.

This virus, would it have infected the cories now too and their eggs? Should I try to grab the eggs?

iam not 100% sure ,but i think corry cats do not suffer from this desiese and should be ok , i would say keep close eye on them , also i would remove eggs as soon as hatched or they will be eaten ,either that or if you have the gear to artificially hatch them then i would try that ,

you could put a seperater in the tank to keep the channa out of the way

Hey, does this mean anything? I've noticed each time I check the Ph,it is sitting a 6.0. Could that be causing any damage? My other tank never moves from 7.0,which is werid as I clean them at the same time with the same water source.
Is it the diff food maybe or something ese? Just wondering if the Ph change could be my baby's trouble... I'm trying to move it up slowly.
