i didnt even know i was out till i woke up with a breathing mask on, he just slipped up a little on the gas, no big deal i was feeling awesome at the time.

How did the dentist almost kill you? You were lucky they used gas, I was conscious when they pulled my tooth. Of course they gave me shots on my gums to make it numb.

At least it's just a chipped tooth.

A few months ago ( i think) I was drinking a milkshake with m&ms in it, and I bit into an M&M that was frozen, and it cracked one of my back top teeth. It was very sensitive to cold/hot stuff and brushing for a while, after a couple weeks it stopped hurting, and I lived. It's still cracked, and is now rotten.... oh well. If it falls out, it falls out. It doesn't hurt in the least, and my other teeth are fine. At least you can't see it without stretching my mouth open, and taking a close look.

I don't like dentists...

edit: just reading this thread, and typing that... I have to go brush my teeth.

every day at least 2x's a day i rinse my mouth with a small amount of peroxide and a bit of listerine... mixed together..the most important thing about preserving teeth is to preserve your gums that hold your teeth in place... keeping gums healthy and disease free.. saves you many many hours of sitting in the dentist chair... not to forget to mention that an unhealthy mouth leads to other problems through out your entire body...

And to those telling me too suck it up/grow a pair? This is my phobia...you found it. I can handle pain. I have been through a LOT of pain in my life...2 years ago, I was riding my motorcycle doing about 65, t-boned a deer, wound up in shock trauma for 2 weeks. Was riding the quad with a cast on my left arm, power-shifting since I couldn't use a clutch. I give platelets about once every month. This is a 2-hour process involving a needle in each arm, pulling the blood out, filtering it, and putting it back in your system. I can handle pain. The dentist is purely psychological, and it is my one big "phobia."

Awww.. I was just teasing you..

I have a super serious Bug phobia... I am learning to live with it. I can actually kill a spider now and handle seeing fruit flies. And now having to feed crickets to my Bearded dragon is helping me get used to those. (I still wont touch them). Phobias suck!

I hope all goes well with your tooth.

UPDATE:

Just got back from the dentist. It was a chipped tooth, she filled it, drilled it down, and sent me on my merry way. However, since it is so small, the filling might not stick. If it falls off, she may have to grind my tooth down, and put a cap on it =(

i meant that they had me unconscious, and i had too much of whatever they were using to keep me out and it slowed down my breathing and they had to give me O2

Any type of anasthesia (spelling?) not only slows your heart rate, but affects your breathing. They give you O2 because the level of saturation usually drops below 70% during surgeries - normal is around 95-98%, doesn't have a lot to do with the heart rate, having a slowed heart rate is a secondary reaction to cope with slowed breathing.
