Ok the speculation will be over soon just went to LARRYDALBERG.COM he's the host of HUNT FOR BIG FISH . and the episode with him catching this catfish will be airing next month ..

The fish was cought in SURINAME SOUTH AMERICA and was estimated at 8 foot plus and over 400LBS . this catch BEST'S !! the ALL TACKLE WORLD RECORD by over 100 LBS !!..

come on guys...its a Brachyplatystoma filamentosum(Piraiba)...the actual record was caught on a charter run by a friend of mine Kdu Magalhaes by Mr. Dercio in 1999 on the Rio Xingu river in brazil...the fish weighed 313,06 lbs and was 93 inches . It is to date the only officially recorded rod/line record of this species.

I definitely agree that it it the B. filamentosum, The eyes, head shapr, flatmouth, pale lower lip, and dorsal shape are all correct for the species.
