Has anybody had any success using any of the home teeth whitening kits that are out there? You know like the ones that are for sale at the drugstores? If you've had good experiences, please share, and feel free to share the bad ones too!

I just find brushing my teeth twice a day for a good minute or two gives me a nice white shine (but not those obnoxious BRIGHT white teeth that they have on tv) :)

Listerine helps too.

And no, I'm not trying to sound/be a smart ***.

I agree, normal brushing should be enough, the only thing is, I'm getting married and a lot of people advise doing it because of the amount of pics you take, blah blah blah, and I'm not opposed to it, but I really didn't want to go to a dentist or something and have to pay too much.

I've used them several times over the past couple years. Seems to work rather well for me. I find that for best results, use them once a year. And yes, I brush 2x/day as well.

Which one's did you use that got good results?

I come from a family of dentists and dental hygenists, and while I'm not one myself - I'm not just pulling this advice out of my ass end either.

Crest white strips work fine for what you'd like to do, but continued use will strip the enamel off your teeth - softening them up and leaving you open to cavities. DO NOT USE THEM for more than 2-3 weeks time.

The other problem with the home whitening methods, are that there are no splints designed perfectly for your teeth, and when the bleach in the compounds to strip your teeth hits your gums it will rot them out - can be quite painful.

So yeah, for what you're trying to do. Crest white strips are the only ones I'd recommend. If you're going for a long term solution to get your teeth looking Hollywood white, then you need to see a dentist and have bleaching splints made.

Get your hands on a Sonic Care Elite toothbrush, too. They encourage you to brush for the full 2 minutes twice a day and do somthing like 60,000 brush strokes per second. All you have to do is hold them up to your teeth and move them around, no scrubbing. They'll whiten your teeth up and keep em' that way.

Yea, I have one of those sonic care ones...work great. My gf bought one after using mine for awhile...

Of course, you could always just get a tan...
