Home teeth whitening kits?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok, I'm not going to "need' the white for a couple months because I'm not getting married until the end of June. If I use them (Crest white strips) now will it last? Or should I wait?

And the bleaching of your gums, does that happen with every use, or do you mean with just extended use?

All hard to say dude, if you drink a lot of coffee and smoke then wait until you've got 3-4 weeks before your wedding day, then start treatment. If you don't drink coffee a lot and smoke then wait 4-7 weeks before.

As far as the gums thing, it's all dependant on the person really, and what condition your gums are already in.

It won't happen if you avoid putting the strips over your actual gumline, and depending on how far your gums are receeding from your teeth shouldn't affect how they look overall.

Then again if your gums are receeding really far, you'll have discolored areas where you didn't cover your teeth to avoid bleaching your gums out.

Ok, I dont smoke or drink coffee, but I'm a little confused about the other part, maybe because of the terminology. Your saying if your gums are receding your more likely to have bleached gums because when you place the strips it would be over your gums, but if your gums are receding wouldnt they be farther back/up (however you say it) so they wouldn't be affected? Wouldn't it be people who have their gums farther "down" (:irked: dangit I don't know the terms) who would get their gums bleached?

I used one of the home kits.. not sure either Crest or another brand.. Honestly started having problems after I used it. Maybe and probably just my bad toothy genetics but started having teeth problems afterwards. Seemed like my teeth were real fragile.. I hate the dentist, but I think only way I would get my teeth whitened..

Off topic I know, but congrats on the wedding:headbang2

On the teeth thing, well I smoke so that tends to make bad teeth in the long run:( hope it all works out for you and you end up with the pearly whites your after:)

Not a personal experience....but make sure you follow directions to a T. A member over at AC got one (a very expensive one, not sure the brand) but she got it on her gums (even though it said not to) and she had a reaction to it..her mouth swelled up and her gums were very sore for quite a while...so be carefull
