Fx5 uses 50 watts of electric.. you would be better off going with a 405, or an eheim canister filter. Even the Cascade filters are pretty kick ass.

was looking at the cascade series, but they didn't have the best reviews. have never had a problem with any penn plax products though. also within my current budget. those dudes been around since before me.

It should be ok with the set up for a bit.. If it's anything like mine.. was got over 8" wide, and was at least 2 feet long.
