Hoplias SP "Iguazu"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
30 inches??? :WHOA: Please tell me you have pics of that thing?!?

Sounds like it was a quick grower then hit a brick wall. :(

I love the looks of them, but if they don't get big I'm not sure how well one would mix with my big wolves. :(

Maybe the max size could be why they are overlooked and lumped into the "Mala variant" category.....

Thanks for the info Liam! Really appreciate it, but unfortunately the decision making about getting one definitely isn't getting any easier. :(
Unfortunately i did not have my camera on me at the time, Yeah SP Iguazu are a cool looking wolf i will let you know if it grows anymore. My SP argentina is 17 inches now and it is still growing lol. And no problem, Always like to share knowledge.

The SP Iguazu died last night, It had no bite marks on it and the tank conditions are perfect. It is the first fish i have had die on me in over a year, I literally have no idea what caused it to die.

Hi. looking at some of the shots and the under jaw it does look like a Lacerdae group species. The shape is very similar to my Lacerdae. I still haven't really confirmed its true identity.

Turns out my stingrays barb killed the wolf fish.
It was a nice wolf! Sorry to hear but not the first and won't be the last with that combo. Not too many bottom fish work long term with rays. I had an Aimara, black wolf and mala and I only had little success with the mala in a cmuunity tank but I didn't keep it very long due to it being a "parker". The other 2 I had no success as they are too aggressive and turned out to be solo only fish. Especially the AIMARA!!
