Hoplias Sp. Xingu Black Questions

would depend on the fish.
they are known to be aggressive and solitary.
but ive also seen members on here keeping them with other fish.
just make sure the wolf cant fit others in its mouth.

As Channarox has already said, each will be different. My first was not a problem with two simalar sized Dorado's a large Obscura and a Fowleri Cat. I lost this one and the Dorados to the tank breakage.

The second initially sat in front of the Cats pipe and got a kicking a number of times. After a couple days of it settling it turned and was giving everybody trouble including the Obscura which was 4" larger. He is now by himself.

Are black wolves active fish? Are they interactive towards humans and are they usually glass bangers? I am getting really interested into a black wolf and I really want an active one, not a log.

I wouldn't call them active. They generally move when they are hungry. There are some that have been seen to head bang but I would say thay are the exception rather than the norm.

What's the difference between just a black wolf and a hoplias sp. xingu black?

black wolf refers to the "species" as a whole.
xingu black is a variant of the black wolf.

There are two Blacks going around at the moment. There are probable more to come.

The Xingu black which is one undiscribed species that was originally found in the Rio Xingu. This is a smaller Hoplias species, it has been in line to be discribed for a little while now.

The Hoplias Sp. Black is a larger wolf, Has been caught in Venezuala and over a broader range. This wolf is reported to reach 28". This is the wolf at the start of the thread.

Thanks
