Actually, many have I just want to learn more about their behavior and know it from personal experience rather than listen to people on a forum whom have never even kept 1 Brandtii, let alone multiples.
I know the chances for long term housing is slim but if more people experiment like this than the better off the hobby will be. I feel the first order of business for keepers is to provide as much honest and accurate information as possible.

amen.

man...I have such varied interest in books that I really couldn't start to list them here or anywhere else. Currently I'm into German literature in a big way. I'm working my way through Hesse's library. I'm a big fan of Phillip K Dick too and I've read approximately 15 or so of his novels and every short story he ever published. I also read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi. I also read a lot of philosophy, anthropology, theoretical physics, (I've enjoyed Michio Kaku, Brian Green, and Hawking). I also read and write poetry. Other authors of note: Noam Chomsky, Kerouac, Burroughs, Joseph Campbell, Sarte, Camus, Kafka, Bukowski, Voltaire, Dostoevsky, Huxley, Orwell, Hemingway, Emerson and Thoreau, Bradbury, Heinlein, George RR Martin, Tolkien, Tad Williams, and most if not all of the classics. That's all I can list off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more.

Oh and ofcourse the parables of Diogenes of Sinope

my name sake :D

I wondered from the start about your screen name. Now I know I was right. We have frighteningly similar tastes. I'm not big on Sci-Fi but do enjoy Philip Dick. I'll keep an eye out for any German literature I can't sell and make a pile. If I do find anything I'll send them to you free of charge.

Su-wheet! F yeah dude. I'd appreciate that for sure.

yeah as far as the sci fi goes it's the pulpiness of it that attracts me. I can't just read literature all the time. If I went from Hegel to Kafka to Kierkegaard without reading something about bug eyed monsters and light sabers in between I might go nuts. I do prefer the sci fi thats more about people and stories rather than fantastic settings however.

I know what you mean! It's always good to mix it up.

Hey, didn't you post a Rhom for sale over on the marketplace? If you see anything interesting in my listings I'd be all for swapping books for fish!

What do you figure they'd charge to ship him to Ohio, area code 45385? That's an outstanding deal and it pains me to even think about missing out.

It's actually not a rhom its a Serrasalmus compressus and I would be interested in doing that. What kind of setup could you provide him with? What do you feed your P's, and do I have your assurance he won't end up in a cohabitation experiment?

That's him in my pic and I have other threads of pics up.

God I wish you hadn't said that! I've lusted after a Compressus for awhile now. If I were to acquire one I have a 125 gallon to start with and would progress from there.
I'd not attempt a cohab ''project'' with those guys as the knowledgeable people I've spoke to told me to not even think about it, it'd never work.

All my Piranhas are treated for fungal/bacteria infections [If I don't know the prior owner and conditions.] as well as internal/external parasites. I feed primarily shrimp but throw fillets, whole fish, veggies into the mix. I never feed Comets or other trash. I put some Comets into this tank that were treated for parasites and fungus as dithers but have never fed feeders to any of my fish for years.
All my tanks are correct, meaning I provide 10x turnover or better, plenty of current and proper temps.

I'd give you a hell of a deal should you find anything.

well the conditions sound more than adequate. He's a really cool fish. He lurks like other serras, needs a hide, but he finger chases sometimes, practically eats out of my hand, and absolutely kills anything that enters his tank. I've tried cohabbing everything I could think of that didn't pose a significant danger to him and he's murdered in the first 48hrs. Actually the only reason I would consider getting out of piranhas is because I can only have one tank right now, and this guy is so mean that I'm getting tired of watching things die in terrible ways. I'm actually thinking of a planted SA or west african biotope. I want to watch things grow and have babies and stuff. Darwin (what i named him) is just a killer.

When I picked him up from the LFS he bit through the bag and had to be put back in the tank. They dosed him with some tranq and triple plus paper bagged him so i could get him home. He's about 6". Bought him as a marginatus. He has beautiful colors.

I had initially thought I was losing my mind. I could've swore it was an 8''-8.5'' Rhombeus. Now I understand the confusion. Another member posted the Rhom!
If you'd rather sell it outright and ship it I'd be very interested depending on the shipping costs and if you'd even be willing to ship him.

Very nice fish! I just checked out your pictures and he looks awesome.

yeah thats the thing. I'd die if something happened to him in transit. You don't frequent book auctions on the east coast by any chance do you?

What about meeting me half way. Honestly if we could work out some way to get him to you without shipping then I'd probably just let you have him as long as you could take good care of him.

I'd definitely take exceptional care of him but I want you to have something in exchange for him. I've never shipped before either and would be nervous beyond belief about his well-being in transit.

I don't see me getting up your way soon though. If you would be willing to ship, I'd think shipping from airport to airport would be the best and fastest way to go. I would think he could be here within 2 hours via plane.

I'll try to see if I can get away and head up that way but it's doubtful I could.
