How big are your baby dats now?

Bought mine around 8/52 ago at 1". My biggest is now around 2.5" and I got him on Hikari carnivore pellets easily and hes now taking broken up bits of Massivore (break the pellet in half) so I expect some decent growth now. His budy has stayed the same size and won't look at pellets despite me starving it :irked:

Yep I agree, Massivore pellets are probably the best growth food for dats. Mine have gotten really tall and fat from them. (I just wish they were a little bigger than 3")

measured the bigger one and hes actually just over 3". He takes massivore but I have to break it in half-his tankmate still won't look at pewllets :nilly:

Thought I'd show the difference. Bought them around 2 months ago at an inch length.

The bigger one eats the pellets and is always pretty near 100% stable. The smaller one won't look at pellets-hasn't eaten in at least 2-3 weeks and is always unstable but bullies the bigger one.

I do think I'm going to have to give it a small feed of bloodworm soon as I don't want to lose it.

I have the same thing going on in my tank. I bought 22 baby IT dats in January and all of them eat pellets except for 1 of them. The ones that eat pellets (massivore and cichlid gold) are about 4" long now, but the one that doesn't is still the same baby size -- about 3/4 inch.

The same thing happened to me when I bought peacock bass. I bought a baby occel from one store and he took pellets from day one and 3 months later, he's a healthy 5-6". I bought another baby pbass from a different store and he never ate pellets. He stayed the same size for about 3-4 months.

So I guess the lesson is: Get your fish onto pellets as soon as you can. It's the easiest way to get them to grow quick.
