Im wanting to upgrade tanks sometime soon and Im trying to decide how big I need to go. I what to put my 2 sevs, 2 rams and add in an oscar, 3 convicts and 2 pictus cats. How big would I need?

I wont be doing this until I move to a bigger place I am wanting to start watch CL or planning a ply build depending on whichever I can do cheaper.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

An oscar and two sevs? I'd say a 150g or 210g would be good if you want tankmates. I think I'd avoid adding rams and convicts, though. Most bigger fish ignore rams, but I have a feeling convicts would harass them. I don't know that for sure, it's just a feeling.

The main reason I want a bigger tank is to get an oscar and I cant part with my sevs. Also I can get rid of my rams that isnt that big of deal. So if I lost the rams would that stocking work in a 125gal or so?

125 would be good with 2sevs an oscar and 2rams if you have decent filtration.
Now if breeding were to occur, I think the tank would be too small and aggression would be too high.

ok if you still want the oscar then no sevs

I see you missed the part of where I wont part with them lol. So can you not keep oscars and sevs together?

If all I need is a bigger tank than a 125 you can tell me. All I am really set on is having my 2 sevs and an Oscar,(unless they wont go together) I really want the pictus cats but I can live w/o them and convicts are nowhere near a must I was just thinking of a few for my 30gal and thought they would fit in with my stocking idea.

I havent bought anything yet Im just trying to plan everything out before I buy it. I have learned from past experiences that it is much much better to have a well planned out tank rather than just buy something and figuring it out later.

If something were to go wrong I plan to keep my 55gal around if need be.

(sorry for the double post)
