How much would an NTT of this size be worth?

i have no idea as i have never seen one that big for sale..lol. i would think they would cost as much as an indo of equal sise if not more since they are harder to come by.

Pet store near me has a NTT that is 10" and is selling it for $150, and it has been their for a WHILE so I am sure you could get it for much cheaper.

An indo at that size would deff be worth much more, because again, NTT are the most common to find.


And just to be on the record, I too perfer NTT's over NGT's and AT''s, but that doesnt change the fact that they are the least desired. This isnt because people like the way the look less, its because the other types are harder to come by and/or get to larger sizes.

What is the name of the store that has it? I'd love to go chech him out. In japan, i've found that NTT's that big are harder to come by than any of the others including widebars, sorry i assumed the availability was similar here in the states. So pricing there is probably a bit different. Even if they are more common here i would still love to get my hands on a specimen that large.

Im not going to disclose how much I paid cause God forbid I ever had to sell him people would say I was ripping them off cause of what I paid for him!

Well if you got a good price for him well your lucky, if ever you have to sell him for whatever price you want it's others people problem if they don't want your price because it's much higher than what u bought the fish originally for... then they should back off from the sale it's a case of take it or leave it, anyway that fish is looking good!

I wish that Dats were more readily available near me. I've only seen 10 young ones and i've bought them all. And they are all IT's.

Cool, i just move to MD, but will be up in near ft. dix in NJ for a day or two some time in the next week or so. now i just need a place to house them until my tanks get here from jpn..lol

Sinister j, do you have any tips on keeping this guy healthy?

Im pretty sure I know how to maintain water quality lol as my ammonia and nitrites are of course always at zero. I do waterchanges ever 5-8 days or so to keep my nitrates below 40ppm. My pH is running around 7.6. Hardness is off of the charts though cause I just use straight tap. I keep my tanks warm at 86*f.

This guy chows down on frozen krill like it is going out of style. Later in the week I am going to try frozen white fish fillets as well as frozen market shrimp and see how that goes.

I was told he was kept in brackish by the guy that traded him in(acclimated to fresh from the LFS I got him from), but in the guy also kept a silver aro in the same tank so I dont know really if it was truly brackish or not.

What is your opinion on the use of salt?

Lots of water changes. I would recommend twice a week if feeding lots of shrimp or krill. I would also recommend using a preventitive like copper sulfate because NTT's are prone to gill flukes. Your temp should be just fine. Salt, I just add 1 tablespoon per 10g. I use salt in all my tanks. Good luck and once again, great fish!
