How big is a monster tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can tell a true monster tank by the reaction from friends and relatives the first time they see your tank. When they comment on how nice or cute your fish tank is, well that's just not monster. If when they see your tank they just stand there, saying nothing with their jaw on the floor....

:jaw:Well THATS Monster:headbang2

i think tank setup also has a big significance in considering it monster
imagine a 500 gal tank or bigger with no setup its still not that monster

I would disagree, but then again imagining and experiencing are the big difference.

I have a large tank on order, and have built the stand. Once just the stand was moved into place, the realization set in...it is freaking MONSTER:WHOA:

I have a two gallon aquarium....yes, a TWO gallon aquarium...For now, it's the most bada*s two gallon monster tank you've ever seen. And the guppies and tetras I have inside....yeah, they're monsters too.

:tropicalf:tropicalf:tropicalf:tropicalf:tropicalf:tropicalf

It's all in your head... literally.

I think if you are serious about fishkeeping and care about the fish housed in your tank, you can be a MFKer.

I think that someone that can only have a 125 could still be considered monster, because they got the biggest tank they could and have it properly filtered and stocked. You could call a 5 gallon betta tank "monster" if you felt like it.

TANK SIZE determines "Monster Tank". I think any tank that can house a monster fish comfortably can be called a monster tank. A 500 gallon tank with NEONS is still considered a monster tank to me and a 20g tank with a pbass in it isn't a monster tank.

Unless you consider the monster that would do that to a pbass. Monster a******, that is. Unless it's a grow out tank of course.

thanks for setting that straight cause i have a pbass in a 20, with a black ghost knife and 3 senegal bichirs for tankmates. also have another 20 with 3 frontosa, 3 brichardi, a pleco, african brown knife, and a bumble bee catfish.

gotta love growouts.

In all honestly anything over 125 is pretty huge. I have a few 180s and a couple of 125s, but nothing compares to my 8' x 2' tank. That bad boy is a monster. I was worried about being content with getting this size tank instead of something bigger, but I am pretty content.

lol. Meant nothing I have compares to my 8' tank.

My first tank was a 20G.. went out within a few days and bought a 29G... started saving right away for a 90G.. As soon As i got the 90G home... I was like ... um not as big as i thought it would be.. I have no more room in my appartment but once I move .. I will buy a tank to fill the largest wall in the house. lol. So I really don't consider my largest tank a monter tank.
