i can't wait til i qualify for these threads you keep posting lol...
i had a pacu in the past for almost 5 years. that hobo grew so big he became the only species in a 150gal tank. he ate all his tank mates. he was a punk. broke all the water heaters i ever put in there. well over 2ft long and almost as tall. craziest monster fish i ever owned... i had to put him down cuz there was nowhere to put him and he was way to big for my tank... rip old pacu

Oh that is so sad.. they can become predators if they have grown up with smaller fish and aquired a taste for them.. mine have never eaten any other fish.. i have about 10 guppies in there and they have been in there forever.. they breed and i am constantly taking them out..pacu do not bother any of them..up until recently pacus best friend was red tail shark.. he lived with them from the beginning and died of old age{actually turned gray in the face} he was 6 years old when he passed.. the pacus are 8 years old and going strong. My one pacu did eat part of the plastic from the heater.. it became larged in his anus and he could not pass it.. my husband pulled it out and we put in medicine and he was fine. but it was unbelievable that he could pass this big piece of plastic all the way down through his digestive system but just not able to fir out the rectum.. They are characters!
