How big of a tank could $900 buy?

Is it possible that Petco's $1 per gallon sale is keeping the prices low in Cali? It seems unlikely that someone would pay $55 for a 55 gallon and $600 for a 75 gallon

I think it's more of there are a lot more fish keepers down there and with more fish keepers there are more tanks. And when you need to sell a tank and get cash then you have to go lower or equal to what others are selling theirs for. So since there are a lot of hobbyists in that area tanks are plentiful so the seller knows that unless the deal is good no one will want to buy their tank. If you were to go to another place that doesn't have as many hobbyists then the prices get higher because tanks that are sought after are harder to acquire.

All I'm hearing is lucky everyone other than FL. My 125 with gravel, aerator and lines, FX5 and a shop light was the lowest I had seen in 4 months of looking at 750. Granted that was prior to the full recession impacts start in early 2009. I still browse CL and I see the same quality or lack there of going for 4-600 now. Truly good setups with proper lights, filtration, deco and fish for 120-225 are 1300-3000. Granted if you buy new you're getting a good return.

Depends on what you are looking for. I sold my 8x4x2 500 acrylic for 800 but it wasnt in good shape. I spent 600 on a new 57g tank, but much higher quality and it would have been over a grand if I got all the options I wanted(wish I had that coast to coast overflow :/)

I got a 2 year old 220G with stand, top glass, lights, heaters, rena xp3 with 2 large red devils for $450 from craigslist. It was also only 30 minutes away.
