how big of a tank would i need....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you just want a big wet pet get a regular 75, not a bow front and just have your one Oscar. You could easily fit your con and bristle nose in a 20 gallon if you could find room for that. 20 gallons don't take much space. You would still have to get rid of the severum though

Why a normal 75 and not a bow front? a normal 75g would be smaller, mine is like a 75g with a added bow on the front that adds a bit more water.

I'm going to try this....

1 x Oscar
1 x Convict
1 x Plec

It's just that, Oscars can get close to 15-16", and in the ends of your tank its only 13" wide. It just doesn't allow much room for the Oscar to turn around.

I know the feeling of wanting a fish, but your tank is holding you back...

My house is holding me back lol!

Also i thought the biggest oscar known to MFK was 13" TL including the tail, so that would make it just ok wouldn't it? i did keep one years ago in a 55g with no problem, he got to about 12" before i gave him away.

LOL lets hope i dont get to find of Dovii :P

I don't know about that, there's a 15", maybe 16" Tiger Oscar at the LFS.

The only thing you can do is then not get the Oscar because that will be the only thing you will be able to do unless you can do the 120 that would work for the stock it is wide and high and length is the same as a 75 so all you can do is what you have now or get rid of everything and just do the Oscar

Theres a good chance you oscar would kill your con when it got big. They dont play well with others! But i agree 75 min and hed have to fly solo. But the 120 wide would be an option if you have to have those fish! It would be big enough to give everyone a territory and the con and bn a place to hide.

You probably do not have a 75 gallon bowfront. Most bowfronts in that range are actually 72 gallons. So, you'd actually have 3 gallons less.

You sound like you are focused on getting the oscar, no matter what. I hope you get it worked out.
