How can I get a more colorful Green Terror?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
:(

in the tank that i got mine from, they all looked the same...like mud puppies. I thought that I picked the most colorful of all of them.

could it be a whole tank of females?

i went back to the store today and all the fish still look the same...mine has improved though.

all i had to do was look for the one with color.... it could be they were all females... a male would be easy to spot females tend to have little color and little orange in the tail at this size.... as you can see in my pics they grow pretty big...a 75 will be great for your fish... ohhh and if the gt decides to kill the bp it will they are highly aggresive..

what's the best way to color up a green terror? Mine is pictured above, and I ........................................................Sporillum (sp?).will it's color come over time?

Basically here it is:

------->Water changes:1 per week, preferably 50%, but 30-40% OK........

------->Varied diet.....Market shrimp, Mealworms, Crickets, KRILL, Color Enahncing Pellets..............

------->Genetics......As heard before, there are lot of common strains in the lfs today that may have been crossbred overtime many time over, careful........Try ordering online from sources such as Jeff Rapps....Jeff has the hook up on WILD caught strains that are guaranteed to be awsome showcases..........NOTE:I am not crushing the local fish store industry(I worked at several), sometimes you get a store that orders quality fish from suppliers such as Jeff Rapps............

------>Tank size.......For an individual GT, 75-100g tank minumum for happiness...............

------>Filtration:Over do it with a DIY wet/dry filter....Slap on two AquaClear 101's for proper mechanical filtration..........

Heres my female at 3.5"

(sorry she wont swim still lOl, but she actually has amazing trailers for a female)

I do 30-40% weekly water changes and she's fed NLS, Hikari Gold/Bio-Gold and Excel as her staple. She also gets frozen blood worms, brine shrimp, spirulina brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp twice a week.

not to derail, but anyone actually have a picture of a 12" + GT? biggest ive seen is around 9"s and i have seen several that size

ugh....what the crap is wrong with mine?!?! lol

Nothing is wrong with yours. He was just going off the title of your thread and saying some strains have been inbreed for so long they loose some color and form. If you order from a top breeder/importer you can get some really nice looking fish. He was not knocking your fish.

Don't give up yet. It usually just takes some time. Here's a pic of mine at 3" and another at 5". Mine's starting to color up...and get mean.
