I recently today just went to a fish store that is moving to a new location. And got a good deal on 2 fluval spec v lights. Since my old light broke for my 5 gallon fluval, I was looking for this for months and finally found 2 of them. These lights were on clearance for $5 each, original price was $50 each. And they are in good shape.
I am glad to say I have a top notch LFS within 5 miles of my house. I support them and remain loyal. One thing that saddens me is that LFS are disappearing daily. The internet makes it very hard to remain competive while supporting the brick and mortar aspect of the business. I find myself knowingly over paying for merchandise on weekly basis in support of the hobby and out of respect to those who are there to educate me and provide goods and service when needed. We should all support local business and those who provide jobs in our communities. Fish keeping is part of your life and so is your community.
I have 2 Petsmarts and 3 Petcos all within 10 minutes of my house. But I have to drive 30 minutes to get to a real LFS. There are very few real fish stores left in our metroplex
My favorite is 7 Seas (small shop. . . maybe 50 tanks), I could ride there on my skateboard: 2 miles each way.
Huge Petsmart is 2 miles also, nearly across the street.
PS+ is only 1.25 miles.
Aquatic Pets (small shop) 3.5 miles.
Petco 4.5 miles
Whitie's 8.5 miles
Blue Ocean (tiny DIscus specialist. Only about 8 tanks.) 10 miles.
There's a cichlid/pleco breeder too, Central California Cichlids IIRC
But I've never shopped there. About 20 miles.

i usually bring them here which is 15-20 mins.... and there are araipaima which you can feed too
I live about 20 minutes from a pretty decent one, 1.5 hours from House of tropics then 2.5 hours from Discus Hans.
Here yall are having several fish shops all within an hour and some even within walking distance and here I am living basically in a wasteland for fish. I’m gonna cry... Does anyone wannt donate me 180 or bigger to make me feel better?
