I wouldn't put any pond media in like you say if you get an Algae bloom your tank ,filters the lot mite get covered in the stuff , my ph is at 7.0 but im pretty sure Asian aros are fine between 6.0 and 7.0 , best to double check that off few resident experts though as I keep jardini not asians

If you do a quick search on Asian aro ph im sure they'll be plenty of info/threads about it on here

I found some sites that said 7.0 to 7.5 an few members said that also

Do not mess with the PH.

a range anywhere between 6-7.5 is fine for asian arowana. Most fish will adapt to just about any PH as long at the tank is stable. Using products to alter the PH inevitably results in PH fluctuations and this will kill a fish very quickly. All my tanks including my arowana are at a PH of ~6.5 because that's what comes out of my tap and messing with it is just asking for trouble.

the key to success if seep things simple. Relax and stop worrying, If you seed the tank, or if you just let it cycle on its own. Either way just keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrites do water changes as needed and that's is. Everything else is over kill and more likely to complicate things for no reason.

Now get more pictures to show him off!
