How did you get into the fish keeping hobby?

since i was born, there was a 30L with a wood stand in my family. My mom would raise gouramis and such...

Then in 7th grade i met a friend who had like 13 tanks, and like 6 of them had arowanas.
1 had a platinum silver bought for RIDICULOUSLY cheap at LFS...

so basically ive been a fishkeeper my whole life. lol.

I had some crayfish for awhile along with some livebearers but they all died due to inexperience. Got this one app on the iPod Touch that was an interactive Blood Parrot and that got me into Cichlids so thats all I keep now.

Well when I was probably 5 or 6 I got 2 goldfish in a bowl as a b-day gift from a family friend and my mom decided to buy me a small "the little mermaid" tank with filter for them. Then eventually after time they died... so my mom bought a 10gal cuse I was so upset and I wanted fish. So I had all kinds of community fish... esp. catfish I loved them (still do). There was a gap where my mom tore the tank down cuse she said it was to much work or something.... and stored. So I found the tank and set it up in my room and got myself catfish and other community fish. When my catfish got to big.... thats when I realized I needed a bigger tank and it grew from there. I have kept an array of fish and different sized tanks.

A good friend of my family wanted to move.
He had many tanks, the biggest was a 300 gallon tank and wanted to destroy all and move fast in a new house.
I asked him if he can sell me the big one.
Then he told me come and pick up as many tanks as you can free....
Just do it quikly!
And i did.....:nilly:
 
Always had a 10g tank growing up. When I got older and into video games I have up keeping the fish tank, went to college etc. Settled down with my gf and got a house 2 years ago. She bought me a betta (blue veil tail) "thunder clese" I still have the little guy. After about a year or so a buddy of mine was getting our of the hobby. He sold me a 20l and a pair of red sevs for 30$. I still have the tank and sevs. Aster they were getting too big I had to upgrade. My gf got me a 55 for valentines day. Then I bought a 75, then another 75, then a 20h, then a 40b. That little betta started my fish obsession all over again. New all I do is think and talk about fish. Annoys the crap or of my gf lol.
 
Got 2 gold fish in a bowl when I was about 5. Goldie and spotty....ya I was little.
 
Heh, my very first fish was a goldfish named Goldilocks in a classic fishbowl. I was 6 :D
