How do bichers rate in size

As far as lifespans I don't think there is enough on their actual life span to make a very accurate thread in it. There could be one on causes of death, but I think there has been very few that have died from natural causes. Most people day that they live about 20 or so years. I would almost say they could live longer because of the way they are built and how long they've lasted on the earth.

+1 for sure, based on what ive read recently (posted a thread about it) theyre genetically superior to us or even sharks. The gyst of the paper was their HoX clusters of genes were far more complicated, they used the word "mosaic" to decribe them in comparison to our own. That could mean in-determinate growth (it will grow as long as it is alive) and a possibility of some living a very, very long time.

Anyone know if they have the bone in the head some fish have that have the rings on it like a tree so you can age em? Itd be interesting to see exactly how old some of these larger wild caught guys are

This is why I cannot wait for the future of these ancient fish because as our technology advances we will be able to find out more about them and in the process will probably learn stuff we didn't know or will find some new species.

Right, you know about the bone thing? Or any other very accurate way to age a dead poly?

not off the top of my head. I'd have to research some more but am in the car on my phone so I'm probably not gonna get extensive in my research until I get home.

Oh yeah ive done a little snooping for it already, havent been able to find much other then aging based on length which i dont think is very accurate

I would at least have a little suspicion that if there were an accurate way to determine the age that their scales would play a part.

Can you use it to tell the age with the bichir alive or only after its death?
