ive just bought this red coloured oscar(about 5inches) a week ago and has been feeding it hikari pellets but this oscar juz aint eating any of these pellets, could it be due to it has already used to be fed with the bloodworms the lfs has been feeding it with and hence rejecting my my pellets? anyway to make my oscar start eating pellets??

or should i feed this fierce oscar with guppies ><

its crule but if hes hungry enof he'll eat the pellets.

The problem is you are never going to stop him from always wanting food. Oscars love pellets and sometimes need to be pointed in the right direction. He'll take them eventually seeing oscars are extremely intelligent and will sooner rather than later recognize pellets as food. Good luck with your new fish.

If you've checked your water parameters and observed the fish for any signs of illness, and everything is satisfactory, he's probably just being picky and will start eating eventually.

try krill or something else, dont get feeders.

after u get him fat, starve and pellet train

Haha if my Oscar had not ate in a week he would jump out of the tank and sit at the dinner table with us till we fed it. I never heard of an Oscar that did not eat for that long no matter what the food.

oscars are smart fish and adapt to diet changes easily. i've never seen a picky oscar.
Say what, phillydog?
my oscar is a very picky eater, or maybe the right word is spoiled!:D
He ate pellets and bloodworms, but stopped taking the pellets.
He only eats all sorts of worms and bugs, but refuses to eat the pellets.
But keeping a supply of live worms is very easy, so i don't complain.
I gutload the mealworms with the pellets nowadays, so my O will get some of the extra vitamins.

But mine stopped eating several times before, and now i know he wants a change of food if he does that.
I switch between mealworms, earthworms, morioworms and crickets and my O keeps growing.

Agree about the feeders but I'd stick to the pellets now eventually he will eat them. Boy I wish my O's would loose a little of their appetite.
