My Jar is now between 9-10" and I've seen no aggression out of him. He's been raised since 5" with Central American and pike cichlids and they all seem to be able to take him no problem if they wanted to. Even now that he's as long or longer than most of the cichlids, he's still thinner and less tall bodied than them. Is he about to start beefing up at this age?

Everything I've read says they usually hit killer mode by around the 8" mark but mine doesn't seem capable of killing the cichlids even if did attack them. My question is, what is powerful about Jardini? How do they attack and kill? Is it their bite? Is their jaw more powerful than it looks? He has rows of teeth but their not very big. This is my first Jardini so I'm not experieced, thanks.

the same question has actually bubbled in my mind to.. this can get interesting..

they don't kil with 1 bite unles the other is really small. it's contant biting. causing many small wounds , torn fins, causing infection, stress that kill the other fish

exactly, they just beat the hell out of them, destroying fins and gills and such. stress basically kills them.

Mine is not really as aggressive like everyone said. I keep mine with asians and the jar is not even doing anything. My asian green and rtg are even more aggressive than my jar. In my personal experience green and rtg are more aggressive than jars. Not many people in the US keep asian aro that's why they don't know that they become killers too.

If I could keep Asian Aros, that would be the only fish I need.
