How do you acclimate your fish ?

Delicate types I do almost exactly what you do with the airline and the 5 gal bucket. I sometimes vary the drips though. But..I float a lot of them until the water temp is equal then add some aquarium water to the bag in 10 min intervals and release at the 25 min mark.

I guess I must admit that the garden varieties just get temp acclimated and then dumped.

However all of my saltwater gets drip acclimated 2-3 drops/sec. I like to put a bucket in the sump to regulate water temp while this is occuring.

That is a really good idea. :)

Float and dump.

Float, pour fish into net, discard bag water, and then put fish in tank.

If they've been in the bag for awhile (shipped, auction, etc.) they need to get out of the bag ASAP: I dump the fish into a net and drop them into the (quarantine) tank.

Otherwise I float them for 10-15 minutes and then dump into a net and into the (quarantine) tank.

Make sure not to get any water from elsewhere into your tank.

Sometimes I dump then check to see if it floats.
lol

jk

But really for freshwater fish I normally just float the bag for 10 min then add some tank water, wait awhile and repete till the bag is full, then I pour the fish into the net over the sink and put em in the tank.

drip is better but I haven't had any problems yet.
knock on wood.

If the water in the tank is warmer than the bag water, i dump em in. vicey vercey, i float the bag for about 30 minutes, has never failed.

small tank with the store water, tie a knot in airline tubing and siphon-slow drip method
