How do you change your water????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use a gravel vac to get most of the debris out while my python pull the rest of the water out of the tank. the suction on the pythons are not great. I then use the python to fill it back up. at most lost 5 gals. gravel vac hose came out of the bucket when i was emptying another one.

I have been doing this for some time now and I have adapted to different techniques from time to time. I was wondering how everyone else goes about changing water in their tanks? And what is your worst spill? I know I always end up with water on the floor. So share please we all might learn something. Or have something to laugh at. :headbang2

My tanks are located in the garage........I simply use a long garden hose.......I open the garage door and place the other end of the hose outside onto the sidewalk........Siphoning is a sinch..........

I use 15' of vinyl tubing, and recently got 25' of garden hose. Still need a faucet adapter for the garden hose, but it works somewhat if I just hold it firmly against the sink.

i usually use my favorite drinking cup to do water changes. if my cup already is in use during the water change i would just use my hands to scoop the water out. i use a straw to pump water back into my tank though

I've been using buckets and or my water hose since I ruined the connections on my Python and have'nt gotten around to replacing them.

I use a Python hooked up to the outdoor faucet and then add warm water with prime from the upstairs bathtub....Oh and for the betta tank an empty 2l Dr.Pepper Bottle and gravel vac....Not Sure what I'll do on the 180gal (maybe add it to the sump heat zap done)

Yeah, the python. But when it was just my 10g and I was first starting out, I used just a tube and a bucket. Getting the suction going on that thing required a mouthful of fishy water! Bleh!
