How do you change your water????

$10 maybe, the valve was the only real cost.
Water change schedule has doubled in frequency
Water spilt basically non-existant.

Drains, Fills, slices, dices, julian, etc..

I'm interested in the python setup though...Both my tanks are within six feet of the kitchen sink. Do they have enough suction to operate as a gravel vac? Is it really safe to add tapwater directly to your tank and THEN add the dechlorinator?

Absolutely! I have the 50' Aqueon brand Python copycat and it works great! While I drain my tank I can vacuum the gravel, then reverse both valves and it fills it back up in no time. For dechlorinator I just add it straight to the tank while I'm filling. Never had a problem.

Anything that makes waterchanges easier and more efficient is a good thing. If its not a chore it means I'll do it more often. Best aquatic investment I ever made.

Cool. I've seen the aqueon branded version of it at petsmart, but I'd be hesitant to get anything other than the actual python...I'm a bit of a namebrand sucker though:\

I'll definitely have to pick SOMETHING up though. I was thinking about trying to just find a faucet adapter and some PVC fitting and turn my current gravel vac into a similar system...

Drain and fill with the same connection. Basically connect a Python hose to this PVC adapter and open the ball valve.

IDK, to me the Aqueon seemed to be better built, and I believe the hose is thicker than the Python which would mean quicker draining/filling. I cant find anything to complain about it.

I have the Walmart version of the Python. It works just fine, no spills. Just saying.

I use a phthon, getting the suction going through the sink and then draining out into my flower beds... will collect a bucket from the top to water my house plants, then fill directly with the python from the kitchen sink. Works great for me.

My biggest spill was was a few gallons and happened right behind my back because I sat down during filling and spaced off on something on the tv!
