I understand the concept when referring to say foam blocks from ac 110s.

But I bought some re-useable stuff from Aquatic Eco Systems...... Really like the stuff so far up until I tried to clean it. Rinsing, squeezing, crumpling, stomping...... Nothing effects it. Spraying point blank with a garden hose and it laughs.... And still looks like poop.

Do you guys have dedicated washers and dryers for your filter media?

Would like to hear how it is that you guys clean your re-useable media.

one of my filters had trays so i leave the media in the tray and push/pull it in a bucket of tank water to get the debris out. that works for me just fine.
with a filter such as an eheim classic with no media basket then a media bag to hold the media in the filter would probably be easier to remove and rinse in a bucket of tank water.
you never let your bio media dry out, this destroys the good bacteria. never use anything but tank water to rinse it.

I just clean mine with tank water, nothing special, not much work.

LOL. You guys obviously do not have this kinda stuff then.

As stated above a simple "rinse" does absolutley NOTHING.

This is MECHANICAL media under the spraybars, over the top of the bio (1500 pot scrubbies).

I got confused, I am..

if its just floss or cheap mechanical matting and not the bio media then just replace it if its clogged too bad. floss is hard to clean and you might get a couple of rinses at most before its too bad.

It is Re-useable mechanical media. I have foam for the large stuff, then medium pads and fine pads. It is not cheap floss mat. I can't find it on thier site. I have found everything else that's on the page in my catalog at home except for this stuff. Maybe this is the reason it's not on thier site....LMAO.

But if you guys haven't checked this place out yet you definetly should. Talk about taking it to the next level.......
