how do you dissolve aquarium salt?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hot water and let it sit till its cooled off.. by then its all disolved...

or just dump it in the tank.. all depends which tank and what lives on the bottom

put mine into a fine meshed aquarium net. let the net in the water so the salt dissolves, and put the handle over the tank so it sits perfectly.

started doing this when i had snails in my goldie tank, since i dident want them trying to eat the salt crystals

use a container take a little tank water add the salt and stir till no more salt is visible

Use SeaChem Marine Salt, or Seachem Reef Salt (with added elements). It is very fine grain and dissolves very quickly.
is that for fw?

I just mix it in a water bottle by shaking it, on the warmer but not hot side, so that it dissolves quicker, but won't burn the fish when I dump it in.

i just add it directly to the tank. i've been doing it that was for about 5 years now and i've never noticed a problem. actually i've never even considered that it could cause a problem. has anyone had a problem doing it this way? the container that the salt comes in says to add it to the tank, so that's what i do.

...dang. no edit feature. i noticed the erroneous word (was vice way) after i hit the submit key, but i can't fix it. poop.
