#2. But I do like to show off my tanks to those who aren't really in the hobby. There is a lot of people who think of 55 gal when they think of big fish tanks. I usually get a good reaction from them.
LOL yeah. I get a kick out of that as well. People see my 75 and there like wow thats huge. then I say well not really I'd really like to have a 300. They just look at me like I'm crazy... well maybe...
But as for enjoying the fish. All of the above.
+Sit,Smoke,Stare. thats how we do it.
Although I love to show off my fish (even if most people aren't that interested), the most enjoyment comes from simply watching my fish interact with each other and with me
Sitting down in front of one of my tanks I catch myself thinking "wow", I'm totally responsible for everything in this living thing's world, and look how good (or bad) they are doing. It can become a bit of a god(dess) complex I think.
I like watching them grow and interact with other species that are not normally found together, ex. RTC and bowfin. This is what you don't learn in text books.
I get a good feeling knowing that my tank looks good and the fish are healty because I'm taking proper care of them,it gives you some pride in ownership! I like watching fish and knowing that this is something I would never be able to see if it wasn't for aquariums, Sitting in the dark with the tank lights on is a great way to watch the fish! I enjoy when I find out other people have tanks and I always love checking out someone else's fish, but one word of advice if someone isn't a fish nut don't force them to listen to you talk about fish for hours.hours and don't "force" people to take the "tour" of your fish room anytime you have company over, let them develop an interest on their own but never force it ! Thats why we have MFK to share/showoff for! I can hardly wait until I can get a huge tank, until then I enjoy the tanks of others and MFK!!!
All of the above. But definitely watching is the big payoff. The carpet is ragged around my biggest tank from the wheels on my chair where i've been rolling around the tank trying to see everything from every angle.
