Throwing any non native fish in a river is the absolute worst thing to do.

It's very different from state to state, but the federal fines for illegal fish are all the same. They're covered under the Lacey Act. That's the $250,000 and 5 years in jail penalty. Here's a link to all of the species considered "injurious" by the Feds. The ones covered under the Lacey Act carry the penalty above.

Don't see Asian Arowanas though, hmm. I'm sure there are other rulings somewhere that I'm not seeing.

This thread is getting tiresome with all the clean ups of people suggesting illegal acts. IT'S ILLEGAL. If you have to put a fish down, clover oil I hear is good, freezer, and if's it too big for any of that...a quick beheading is probably best.
