How do you get rid of tannis?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It will clear in time as people have said. May take 6 months but will clear. If you want to speed up the process take the wood out, put it in a rubbermade bin or something large for a week. Change out all the water every 24 hours with HOT water. By the end of a week or even a few days there should be less and less tannins in the water each time you change all the water out. In the tank you can't change all the water so it just slows down the process of the tannins being removed from the water. After you are done soaking just rinse off and put back in the tank.

Good luck.

I am a Purigen fan after I did a trial run on my 33. I've never tried it for tannins though (haven't had any new wood in a while, and they don't bother me that much).
