How do you introduce a new fish in your tank?

Wait, you must know how to do this by now with the number of posts you have.

But if you're just conducting a sort of popularity poll, why not make a poll?

Anyway, it depends on the fish. Feeders and cheap stuff I just float, but real fish I drip acclimate.

If there's a big change in the conditions from where they're coming from or it's a large, expensive, or otherwise sensitive fish I usually will drip for several hours with a bubbler and sometimes a heater in the bucket with the fish.

I wouldn't pour the water from the bag into your water regardless of the kind of fish there's alot of crap in the bag..i float and drip and dump the water in the sink with the fish into a net and then put it in the water

I leave the bag in for 5 mins then keep adding water every 5 minutes from my tank. After about 25 mins I feed my fish and pour the new fish in. A friend of mine turns his lights off too but I don't bother.
