How do you introduce a new fish in your tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Intoducing a new fish by just dumping him in can backfire. You can introduce a disease or illness by not quarantining him first, or a fish could go into PH shock........

I leave the bag in for 5 mins then keep adding water every 5 minutes from my tank. After about 25 mins I feed my fish and pour the new fish in.

I do the same but i net them out of the bag not a fan of putting lfs water in my tank
I know especially after you hear all the stories. I personally use a quarantine tank so I put the water in as well.

I usually have them go around the tank and introduce themselves to each other, giving their first name and tell one interesting story about themselves...

Yea exactly its poop and potential disease your dumping in your water..next time you buy fish look in the bag and see how nasty the water looks just saying i always net the fish out

I float in water while adding water every 10 min. Feed my fish and do a water change. Or a quaratine but usually when i buy new fish the tank they are going into already has newer fish in it. SO it doesn't really matter.

Why not its just poop in there?

Which means unneeded ammonia, as well as potential disease.

Float for 15 minutes, transfer to container, and drip.
