How do you introduce a new fish in your tank?

Im sort of lazy, so unless it's an expensive or fragile fish I just float the bag in the tank for a few minutes, then I poke a little hole or two in the submerged part of the bag so the water starts to mix a bit. A couple minutes later I just dump.

I float my bag for 15 min. Then put water and fish in a bucket and add a little water from my tank for the next 10 min. Then I feed my fish in my tank so they have little interest in the new fish as food. I turn my lights off. Then I net the new fish and place the net in the tank. I let the fish sit for just a bit in the net. Then I let the fish swim out into the aquarium. My Oscar could have fit numerous new fish in his mouth when I added them but ha not yet. So I guess this sort of works.

Really depends on the fish in question, but generally I float for 15-20 minutes, drip for about an hour, net out and qt for 2 weeks. Introduction to main displays are always done at night with dim to no lights.

I put a little water conditioner into the bag right after I open it. Then I put a little conditioner into the tank. I put some pellets into the far end of the tank to distract the rest of my fish so my new fish doesn't get spooked right away. Then I'll check to see if the temp in the tank is near the temp in the bag or warmer. If it is then I just scoop out the fish and put him in the new tank.

God i have so many different protocols depending on many things lol. Most fish get a float, and if they arent a delicate species they just get netted out of the bag (never use store water) and plopped in.
If there might be an issue for aggression i feed everyone. Fish that come home in a bucket get tank water poured in slowly, then netted or handled out.

Fish that can bite get poured in water an all lol. Like every tome we've brought a large moray eel home.

And there have been times where shipped fish on the brink of death have been dumped in blue water and all. Especially if they need to worked on to survive.
