How do you move a 1000 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
defintaly rent a truck with a lift gate and load 3 or more people in the cab. when i moved my tank. I bought a keg of beer and called all my friends. The rule was the keg dosnt get taped untill the tank was inside on the stand. harbor freight sells wheeled dollys pretty cheap. also all kinds of jacks and what not. good luck and post a pic or 2 of the tank when its set up.

It's not glass, the OP is wrong. And I'm curious why you think there is such a thing as a 1000 gallon glass fish tank. Did you grow up with two mothers? Obviously the OP just made a typo. Can you explain? I have a bridge for sale.............

Umm why can't it be glass? A 1000 gallon tank ain't the size of a bridge. Assuming dimensions are around 10ft x 4ft x 3ft....and yes there are such thing as a 1000+ gallon "glass" tanks. Also I know a tank maker who has built 1000+ gallon tanks that are made of glass. Explanation very simple my friend. Glass is way cheaper then acrylic and the tank was built on site. The previous owner probabely moving so he's selling it.

wtf are u on about why couldnt u have a 1000g glass tank?

not everyone braces a tank with a crappy bit of plastic around the top...

He's probabely on crack.

It would realy depend on where the tank is placed, on how easy it is to take it out.

What i do for a 300gallon glass, moved it with only 4 guys.

get the tank off the stand or, move the tank and stand if you have place. Build a dolly that can handle the weight, get a car jack, hoist the stand. or pick up the tank some how. and just push the dolly.

i made a 6 wheeled dolly with walmart wheels. rated at 90lbs each. I always use the dolly method, because i know like 4 small but able guys.

Just break it into pieces and put it all in the truck. Ha ha. Just kidding. You might need to get a hold of glass holders (suction cups that glass makers use). And you will probably need more than 8 people to lift a 1000 gallon tank. You need about 4 people to move a 200 gallon, so just imagine how heavy a 1000g would be. That glass is gonna be thick and HEAVY. Good luck.

Rent two Genie lift (like a portable forklift)

After lifting lower it and put it on a number of furniture dollies

Wheel it to your means of transportation whether it be a truck or trailer

Use the Genie lifts or a trucks lift gate to load it

Get it to your destination and reverse these directions

EASY and it would only take 2 people at the maximum!

I have those dollies. Those are the 1000 lb capacity furniture dollies that Uhaul sells:) I used them to move my glass 450g and it worked. Just make sure have all 4 corners of your tank with ppl's support when using them. The tank tends to slide alot on these dollies.

i get a rent one of those flant bed trucks with lil fortlift in the back whats what my fam did with were getting whole pallets of brick to do our fence.

I grew up with 2 mothers, had a fantastic childhood and am (other than a slight addiction to this hobby) a fairly well adjusted person.

ON topic, furniture dollies and manpower are the answer.
