I'm planning to get a 180 or 125 but one of the problems is moving it. How did you guys move your tanks to where you wanted them to be?

Also, can I put a full 125 or 180 gallon on the first floor? There is space under it(the basement) so it's not on solid ground.

You can move the 125 with 2 strong people. The 180 would need 4.

If you have to move it far, what I do is get two 2x4's slightly wider than the width of the tank, and tie or duct tape them to the bottom of the tank close to the ends. That way when a person is getting tired or has to re-grip, you can put the tank on the ground at any point and take a break. The 2x4's lift the tank off the floor so you can get a good grip and lift it up again without having to tilt the tank for people to get a good grip. Also you can put the tank down without crushing fingers! ;)

i like vanimates idea but i would take it a bit further and atach a peice of plywood with a edge for the tank to sit in this attached to 2x4s would make for a very stable tool
also a 180g should be fine on a first floor you could place a sheet of 1" wood just bigger then the base of the stand to dissapate the weight some and or add some floor jacks under the the floor studs below the tank

opps forgot this take it from experiance make sure your floor is fairly level where you place nothing worse than having to move a big tank after you've filled it

When I bought my 180 I had two of the employee's where I bougt it deliver it for me. It wasn't easy for them but 2 guy's did it. It's damn heavy though 242 pounds empty. B.T.W. I had to pay an extra 50 bucks but it's more than worth the hassle. :grinyes:

See Rallys vids on his 300.

180 is fine with 2 people done it plenty of times. even moved my 240 with two people though i would not recomend it. my back was sore for a couple days with the 240. two people on the 180 no problem

Very carefully!! LOL/. But I agree with the above... 2x4's underneath it..
