How do you move large tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
:iagree: save some of your water, if you dont have some strong friends (I have some pretty weak friends, I am the one they call to help move them) call the piano movers. Creating is an awsome idea too!

Best way to move your tank:
Step 1: Save 75% of the water, move fish into temporary holding tanks
Step 2: Take 15lb. sledge hammer
Step 3: Swing sledge hammer into front pane of tank
Step 4: If step 3 did not break glass Go To step 2, otherwise continue to Step 5
Step 5: Explan to wife; "Tank broke, need larger tank with thicker glass"!
Step 6: Burn and discard evidence
Step 7: Order larger tank, preferably 300+ gallon

just tell her im buying a bigger tank to go next to my other tank thats all i do and it works for me but my girl is very understanding and of course she knows that no matter what she says i would do it anyways

I you are anything like me, I like to use less effort and insure saftey of my tanks.
Thus, I construct rolling frames to move them on...the tank can be slide on/off the rolling frame on/off stand, or on/off back of pick up. Only need one person to actually do the moving. Just takes a little wood and some wheels, and you are set.

if you want to move the tank to a different area of a room with carpet use those small round plastic furniture sliders,i moved 150 g tank by my self that way, with no probems just make sure it empty.

2 big guys can easily move a 125 the guy I bought mine from helped me put in the van had to take it out myself. Will get someone to help bring it in the house cause I wouldnt want to carry it far myself, and need two to get it thru a doorway
