How do you rinse your sand?

How do you rinse your sand. Maybe even post a video!

Pretty much the same way. haha If your water is still really cloudy you can get a chemical called clear water and it will help the particals fall to the bottom once your tank is filled. I don't like sand with CA cichlids they kick it up into the filters.

i use a 5 gal bucket .. so i can swirl the sand around so i dont make as much of a mess .. i do around 20 lbs at a time .. you can do more but i feel it takes longer ..

i put all my sand in a large rubbermaid tub and gave it a good rinse with the garden hose (putting my thumb over it so it really blasts the sand) and then just keep blasting it until all organic particles are out and then i let it sit in the chlorinated water for a day then i repeated then i put it in my tank

i got my sand from the lake at my cottage and thats why i let it sit in the chlorinated water so it would kill off any nasties (bacteria parasites etc)

HAHA you just enjoy making vids don't you ^^ I pretty much do that except I use a 5 gallon bucket, mix the sand in the bucket for a min or so, dump the water out, and fill the bucket with more water, repeat. until its clean. It is a lot easier in the summer.

Yeah I will get a five gallon bucket from you this weekend then lol! What about the cichlids sanding the filters. How to prevent this?

You shouldn't have any problems with that. I never have with any of my tanks. He was saying Central American's tend to kick up sand more.
