Anybody use the Big Al stuff? Just wondering if I'm better off going with the cheap stuff or if Prime is really that much better.

Like the plant fert they make, flourish, I have never found seachem's products to be any better at all or worth the extra money. Flourish in fact has managed to kill off some plants that were almost impossible to kill, compared with APIs leaf zone which makes them flourish. Just my 2 cents.

With Prime you use less, more bang for your buck. Prime is the cheapest conditioner out there if you compare the volume of water treated with other brands.

prime 5ml per 50 gallons of water.... most other conditioners its that much to treat 5 or 10 gallons of water....... prime is great stuff and prettty much all i use besodes ultimate from hikari...

Not that I'm biased or anything (see avatar) but I've used it for many years.

The Pond strength Prime is awesome, one capful does 200 gallons.

Actually, the bottle says 1 capful per 100 gallons, but that was debunked by a member. The usage for ponds is half as much because of the off-gassing of chlorine from a ponds large surface.

Pond Prime™ Support

Q: I am using Prime (not Pond Prime) for my weekly 10% water changes in a 1200 gallon pond. I do not have a way to dechlorinate the water outside of the pond, so I have to add the fresh water (with chloramines) and Prime directly to the pond. Do I base the required Prime quantity on the volume of the pond, or the amount of fresh water being added? Does a UV sterilizer have any interaction with Prime? What is the advantage of Pond Prime vs Prime?
A: Prime and Pond Prime are the same product even though the dosages are different. Based on the dosage, Pond Prime will treat more only because a pond is more of an open system and chlorine has a better opportunity to naturally gas off hence needing less product. If you are having to dechlorinate your water going directly in the pond without having the ability to dechloriante before hand, I would definitely base the dosage of Prime/Pond Prime on the total gallons of the pond. Not just the amount of water changed.

Prime is still the best bet for the money.
