How Does This Even Work?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I currently house a solo jag in a 90 gallon with all sorts of pots, rocks, wood, plastic plants. No matter where I place everything, she arranges the tank exactly the same way every time, down to the hills in the sand. It's quite funny actually.....I've tried to force my will and way on this fish, but everyday we go to her tank and she has it all arranged, exactly the same way....

She's only been in this tank for a bit less than a week too.....but she obviously knows how she likes it

That's pretty funny and impressive lol. I'd just leave it be. Too bad you couldn't set up a camera in the distance after a water change and capture her doing it a couple different times. I think it'd be interesting to see if she moves everything in the same order and the same time every time.

I'm gonna have to try that....

If you do, let me know if she does it all the same way both times. I think that in itself would show not only intelligence, but a bit of OCD in a fish lol. Before I started keeping fish, I never really thought of them as overly smart. After keeping Cichlids for about 2 years now, I have to say some are definitely smarter than we give them credit for. They're certainly some entertaining creatures.

Strangely enough, the guy that posted that video isn't the actual owner of the fish. They're a friends. By posting some reasonable comments on the video I've gotten his attention and he's going to try and convince his buddy to sell off 2 of them and possibly get a bit bigger of a tank to keep just the 1 in the tank. Which I think would be an excellent idea. Hopefully it works out that each fish ends up in a great environment.

Gatorxxx420 i believe they are his fish, if you go through his videos, there are more cramped tanks then that one, i had to stop looking at the comments, i found one in particular really insulting, i know i only have a convict now, i chose to go back to basics, but if had jags, flowerhorns, oscars, veijas, arowana's all sorts, he seems very arrogant

Either way, I hope he heeds the warnings that those 3 fish could have a war of the ages and all of them could wind up dead from it. It doesn't matter the fish you keep, rather it be Convicts, Dovii, Guppies or whatever... as long as they're in proper housing and their water is well maintained, that's all that matters.

While some tank s are obviously horribly crowded or stocked, this one isn't. Could be bigger yeah but the fish all seem to eat and look healthy. This site really provokes people to find reasons to insult others or correct them. Sometime the perfect conditions aren't nesasary.

I'm not insulting anyone, given the notorious nature of fish such as Red Devils I'd say it's a matter of when and not an "if". It's never been a question of the fishes health, but to have 3 fish this size in a tank that small is a disaster waiting to happen. Why do that to such beautiful fish?

i agree, but its kind of going over old ground now, the topics turned into something interesting now. lets face it, anyone who has kept a RD knows its wrong, anyone who says thats ok is a liar, lets go back to talking about the interesting side of things

The point of this thread and OP was:

"This is definitely something that shouldnt work and probably wrong ad everyone else knows it., but let me share it for the sole purpose of letting others know I have seen a RD &%$# up a tank."

Pointless
