How Does This Even Work?

But can't the "if not when" argument be made about any size tank? They may snap and kill each other in a 75 gallon, or they may snap and kill each other in a 300 gallon. One can argue that there's a higher risk in the smaller tank, but it's a mixed bag either way.

I checked out his other YouTube videos and he definitely likes an overstocked tank. I can't imagine cramming that many fish into one tank just because it'd be hell on my water bill. Surely you'd need lots of water changes to keep the nitrate and DOC levels manageable.

It certainly can be a factor in any size tank. It can happen with a pair, a community tank or with just a few fish. If you read the "When 300 gallons isn't enough... " thread you'll see that.

^^ yep. wonder who wrote that one?:naughty:

I think the point here is, with cichlids in particular, there are no guarantees with any combo, in any tank size, but you're chances of success improve by not pushing the envelope.

I can promise you another thing too.......if what happened in my 300 had happened in a tank half that size, my festae wouldn't have had "space' to escape to and most likely would have been killed. I got props for getting the situation under control in time, but in a lot of ways I don't think i deserve the props at all. The size of the tank, or space, is what saved my fish..........
