How does your fish behave during water changes?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Depends of the fish..silver dollars are spooked (they are afraid of own shadow) and bangs into glass (when im rearranging tank)..after water change, they get spawning color and start catching eachother..bichirs and ropefishes - they dont give a da*n about anything i do..sometimes just go away, sometimes play with my hand :) oscar..thats another story.. attacking my fingers, nuckles, vaccuum thingy, but after wc always happy - he was a bit odd in the brains :)

Most of them want to see what I'm doing, they're curious about the siphon. My angels think I have food, so naturally they like to get in my way. If I take all the decorations and plants out, the shy ones tend to freak out a bit because they have nowhere to hide but they try to stay out of the way.

My BP's hide, but my GT doesn't move; just watches intently. Smart fish.

It depends on how close I get the temperature to the original water. Just a bit colder and all my goldfish sink to the bottom and become motionless. The same temp or warmer and they act normal. They really dislike a bare bottom. Whatever is in the tank they will gravitate to and hover around. I imagine they feel like there falling with no gravel in there, but the tank stays alot cleaner.

My argentea will do the same thing...follows the python around sometimes will charge and nip it.....everyone else hides changed colors and acts dramatic

They have always loved water changes, especially refilling the tank. This is really old video, as all the fish have passed on except the pacu who are much larger now than in the video. Tommy, the lutino oscar even body surfs a little.
