how far from wall do you have your tanks setup?

im setting up my 300g now. my base has a soild back,so i have to drill holes for my equipment. trying to figure out how close to the wall i should go, in case i may need to get behind it. id like to get it as close as possible but tank is so long ill never be able to reach back there.

suggestions? i was thinking as tight as possible and cross my fingers. i could cut some access holes if i had to but will weaken the stand.

My 220 is 2 1/2" from the wall, just far enough for my FX5's tubes to fit behind it.
