How fast do wolf fish grow? Prices?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Howdy,

Many people will say "yes" because they never see their wolves swim around. They are nocturnal. My 1' wolf is in a 75 right now until I can get my 220 out of storage by the end of the year. He is looking forward to it. He cannot make more than a few strokes in the 4' tank.

If your question is "for life", then I have to say "no". As a grow-out until they reach 1': yes!

I might be getting a 180 in the next few weeks. If that doesn't work out, I'll 100% be getting a 125 in October. So worst case sinarieo. , I get them at 5 inches, they are in a 75 for 4-5 months. So would a 125 be sufficent for 2-3 wolves? and would the 75 be okay for 2-3 wolves for a few months. Thanks for all of the help so far.

Howdy,

Sounds like you've got a plan  Which species are you looking into in particular? Some smaller-staying wolves will even be fine in a 75 gal, definitely in a 125. Cheapest and most often sold are malas, thus my assumption. But it all depends on what you can find.

Indeed, wolves are plant-friendly. Just remember they will be big fish and can easily uproot plants just by swimming or hiding in the thicket. But they'll never eat or purposefully uproot them.

I'm looking for just regular ones. The 18"s. So a 125 will be big enough for 3 full grown. Do they get agressive between each other?

they get very aggressive to anything, if you get 3 they will fight till there only one left. i got one at 10" for 25$ :D but thats in swe

cover tanks, also i had a couple malas in a planted tank no problems. the prices are a little steep go to riverwonders.com and get them for $36. or go to tfd but a 200 min order. they are usually $15 from him

mikes is the only place i've seen them at for a while i'd say that they might out grow a 75 they can get 20'' but as for more then one you could try it but it probly won't work
