Mask hanging from one ear....
Hello; An even better and current image exists. Saw it on the news some minutes ago. If you are not aware Dr. Anthony Fauchi threw out the first pitch for the salvaged MLB season. No comment on the pitch. Apparently he was sitting in the near empty stands with two others I guess at that same game. Anyway he is sitting in between two other people, all three in in seats right next to each other. (No social distance). Also he was not wearing a mask. I want that image. If it is allowed here and I can legally get it it would make a neat avatar, for a few days. Probably not allowed here as an avatar but it would make a great meme.

About the masks and wearing one. My brother was a deep miner for a long time. He became a section foreman after proving his worth. With that position comes the requirement to study for, pass tests for, and maintain lots of certifications. Mine safety, mine rescue, first aid and likely some others. Now that he is in his early 60's he does not go underground to work. He has been teaching those certifications for a few years now.
As with everything else his work was shut down until this month. When his classes started back he did all the arrangements to have the needed distances and have masks available. For a few days he was allowed to remove his mask after getting a class arranged and he was well out of the distance of others. He told me yesterday the powers that be have mandated he and all the men in the class have to be wearing a mask at all times. Over eight hours some days. I get antsy having a mask on for less than an hour when out shopping. My brother is not too happy about this.

We so badly need a good antibody test. To me this is more important than just general testing for active cases of the virus. Sure, keep testing anyone who becomes ill but why people at random so much. If I could know I have already had the virus then I would not need a mask or need to take precautions.

I have to pull my mask down so my iPhone will recognize me and unlock.

Perhaps that's why Fauci pulled the mask down?

I had to do this in the grocery today. My shopping list was on the phone.

Missed this thread until now. Has the virus affected my personal life? Not in any way I can't handle, at least not yet. I'm retired, live on 16 acres, hundreds of square miles of national forest in my area, even during the stay at home phase I could work around my property, go for a drive, or go out in the woods. It's a rural area, during much of this time the county I live in hasn't had active cases. It's waxed and waned, but so far the big surge in the county was ten or so cases, I believe, which has happened a couple of times then died down. Of course things could change at any time. All in all I know I'm fortunate being situated as I am, at least so far. Otherwise, I continue to stay home more. When I do need to go somewhere I get in and get out, if a store looks too busy to suit me I don't go in, if a store and it's patrons are overly lax with masks and distancing I stop going there. I get more stuff online now.

Logic tells me to do what you can to improve your odds, no matter how you view the odds. Not only do I not want to die or end up in a hospital with tubes inside of me, I don't want to get the virus, recover but be health impaired, or recover without being health impaired but be sick for weeks. No thanks, not if I can help it. The fewer people I can be exposed to, the less time I can be in public spaces, and the more conscientious the people in that space are, the better the odds. Still no guarantee.

In some discussions-- not here-- I've seen people comment broadly on "lessons learned" accompanied by personal opinions and conclusions. Some of these "lessons" have been pretty naïve. Personal lessons can come at any time, of course, but these people were make proclamations of social, economic, or historical lessons learned. Pretty early in the ballgame for that, I think. What someone perceives as a mistake is not necessarily a lesson learned. It's still awfully early to tie a bow of "lessons learned" around this thing in some deep or historical sense. There's not yet a proven, widely available or, more importantly, widely administered and historically proven vaccine. No one knows what the coming fall and winter will look like, or next year, or...

So, thanks, but I'll wait for history to play out before jumping ahead to lessons learned.

Otherwise, I can just convey my sincere wishes that everyone stays well in any of the ways the pandemic situation might be a threat to your well being, and for the best and fastest recovery for anyone or their family or friends who contract the virus.

According to the article, he was sitting with his wife and a close friend who was his guest. He pulled the mask down to drink water. The water bottle is in the picture. He explained that he was totally dehydrated. He said that he had tested negative the day before.

Hello; I never doubted he would have a story. It is just that he is first among those influencing how the rest of us are having to live and the image is so full of irony.

Hello; Just though of a different wording for the meme. Fauci is saying to his friend. I just sent out an order everyone has to wear a mask in the toilet. Please forgive me for that as I am not a good meme writer.

Lysol spray is still hard to come by around here.

I find photos of this nature very misleading and potentially very damaging.

Because of who this guy is I bet there was a reporters high zoom camera pointed at him from the other side of the stadium throughout the whole game. The split second he drops his mask to take a drink the reporter clicks. The resulting still can be given a misleading headline saying he was blatantly ignoring his own "rules". It looks bad.

A 15 second video clip on the other hand may well show him to drop his mask, take a drink, just turn to his buddy momentarily and say something, and then put the mask back on. No headline there for the reporter.

News is made to grab attention, good or bad.

South Africa has reinstated the alcohol ban, tobacco remains banned which is causing enormous friction and a booming black market. We're passed 400k cases now, hopefully it comes down so we can return to normal and I can do my lab work for my course.
